SUMMARY:War Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children
DESCRIPTION:This poignant exhibition – which aims to shed light on the deep trauma experienced by Ukraine’s younger generation – showcases the personal stories of children and teenagers who have witnessed and documented the war in Ukraine.\n‍\nWar Diaries provides a platform for the unheard voices and the underrepresented perspective of Ukraine’s youth who have experienced the devastating effects of the war. It serves to foster empathy\, understanding\, and meaningful dialogue surrounding the emotional and psychological consequences experienced by younger generations affected by war.\n‍\nThe fourteen carefully selected stories – which balance gender\, age\, region\, and story type – emphasize the vast number of narratives that remain untold. Through the visual representations of war from children’s perspectives – including audio and video interviews – visitors will be immersed in their moving stories.  An additional exhibition highlight will feature original diaries and sketches\, allowing attendees to connect with the personal belongings of the children whose stories are being shared. \nThe exhibition has been shown in numerous important venues in Europe and has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim in international media (read more HERE). \nThe Ukrainian Institute of America is proud to collaborate with the following esteemed partners in hosting this important exhibition: The Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN\, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine\, Children of Heroes Charity Fund\, Voices of Children\, Platform TU\, and R.T. Weatherman Foundation \nAbout the Organizer:\nBased in Kyiv\, Ukraine\, Khrystyna Khranovska is the initiator and visionary leader of the War Diaries project. Over the past fifteen years\, she has dedicated herself to social\, educational and cultural initiatives aimed at empowering the younger generation. She organizes a Ukrainian Christmas celebration annually\, actively promoting the preservation of ethnic and cultural traditions. In response to Russia’s full-scale invasion\, Khrystyna has focused on creating social projects that aim to highlight the most pressing issues. \nWar Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children
