DESCRIPTION:Music at the Institute presents \nA Concert and Conversation to celebrate the new album on NAXOS – UKRAINIAN MASTERS. \nFeaturing \nPerformance of selections from the album\, which includes sonatas for violin and piano by Sergei Bortkiewicz (Serhiy Bortkevych)\, Viktor Kosenko and Myroslav Skoryk. \nSolomiya Ivakhiv\, violin [UCONN/Longy]\nSteven Beck\, piano [UMass Amherst] \nMaria Sonevytsky\, Ethnomusicologist and Professor of Music\, Bard College and Peter Schmelz\, Musicologist and Professor of Music\, Johns Hopkins University\, will have discuss the contribution of Ukrainian Composers to the musical canon. \nA reception will follow the program.
