Anastasiia Podervianska: High Textile
October 4 - November 11
Reception for the artist: Thursday, October 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Art at the Institute is pleased to present an exhibition of textile works by Ukrainian-born Anastasiia Podervianska, titled High Textile. Curated by Walter Hoydysh, PhD, director of Art at the Institute, this marks Ms. Podervianska’s first showing with The Ukrainian Institute of America.
Anastasiia Podervianska was born in the young family of the artists Les’ Podervyansky and Svitlana Lopukhova in 1978, uniting the families of renowned artists, professors and Academy members. Without a doubt, her origins posed a considerable existential challenge to the gifted young woman. It is no mean feat to come into your own as an unconventional and independent artist in a family of famous and talented artists.
Anastasiia has been participating in exhibitions since her teenage years (since 1992), and joined the National Union of Artists of Ukraine soon after she graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in 2002.
