The Ukrainian Institute of America offers a wide range of Ukrainian language courses for all language levels. With over a decade of teaching experience with a highly qualified team of instructors, our program has welcomed English-speakers from around the world seeking to engage more deeply with Ukraine’s language and culture. Designed for adults of all backgrounds, the program emphasizes both linguistic proficiency and cultural literacy in a supportive, small-group learning environment.

Our online courses are offered in ten-week semesters – Fall, Winter and Spring – so students can continue their language journey year-round.  Choose the course that best suits your needs, abilities and language skills. To get started, complete our APPLICATION FORM

The new semester begins on April 6, 2026. 

UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE LEARNING LEVELS

Beginner (A1-A2):

A1: For complete beginners who can understand and use very basic expressions and communicate in simple ways with support.
A2: For learners who can handle everyday situations using simple language and express basic needs with some independence.

Intermediate (B1-B2):

B1: For students who can manage familiar situations and express ideas on everyday topics with reasonable clarity.
B2: For learners who can interact fluently and spontaneously on a wide range of topics, including more complex discussions.

Advanced (C1–C2):

C1: For advanced learners who can communicate effectively and flexibly in academic, professional, and social contexts with a high level of precision.
C2: For near-native speakers who can express themselves fluently and accurately in virtually any situation.

2025–2026 ACADEMIC CALENDAR

  • Fall Semester [10 weeks] – starts September 29, 2025
  • Winter Semester [10 weeks] – starts January 5, 2026
  • Spring Semester [10 weeks] – starts April 6, 2026
  • July: Summer Break
  • August: Summer Reading Club (for current students only)

Beginner and Intermediate courses meet online

  • Monday & Wednesday — 6:00–7:00 PM or 7:00–8:00 PM (EST) Tuesday & Thursday — 6:00–7:00 PM or 7:00–8:00 PM (EST)

Advanced / Heritage Classes meet online

  • Once a week between 6:00–8:00 PM (EST)

Program cost for a ten-week semester is $400 per student.
