Featuring works by Ukrainian and Lithuanian composers, the concert offers a special opportunity to meet Lithuanian musicians during their U.S. tour as they stand in solidarity with Ukraine.

In its 36th season, Music at the Institute presents world-class musicians from Ukraine, Europe and the US, performing in the unique setting of the concert hall in the Ukrainian Institute of America’s historic, landmark building. Currently under the leadership of Artistic Director, Solomiya Ivakhiv, the MATI series presents audiences with a selection of familiar chamber music repertoire and introduces lesser-known as well as established works by Ukrainian composers. Over its history, MATI has commissioned compositions by emerging and recognized Ukrainian composers, in celebration or commemoration of milestones in Ukrainian and the Institute’s history.
The Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society’s Musica Humana Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1974. Its concerts were among the first signs of the revival of historical performance of early music in Lithuania. This year, the ensemble Musica Humana is celebrating its 50th anniversary of artistic activity. Each year, the ensemble performs approximately 45-50 concerts. The ensemble participates in numerous festivals both in Lithuania and abroad. It is the main organizer and performer at two Lithuanian festivals: “Kuršių Nerija,” which took place for the 26th time this year, and “With Blessed Teofilius,” which has been held three times and is organized every two years. The artistic director and program curator of both festivals is Prof. Dr. Robertas Beinaris.
