On September 21, 2023, during the week of the high level meetings at the annual United Nations General Assembly, the UIA and US Department of State co-hosted an important discussion with prominent members of the cultural community in Ukraine. Glen Davis, Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, moderated a discussion with Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta, Director General of National Art and Culture Museum Complex “Mystetskyi Arsenal” (Art Arsenal), Volodymyr Sheiko, Director General of the Ukrainian Institute (Kyiv), and Volodymyr Yermolenko, President of PEN Ukraine and the current Analytics director at Internews Ukraine. The panelists expressed their gratitude for the meaningful and ongoing support of Ukraine in the U.S., both from organizations like the Department of State as well as from cultural organizations. Representatives of important U.S. based museums and members of U.S. and European cultural and academic institutions were in attendance and had the opportunity to engage after the formal presentation with the Ukrainian guests and with one another.
