Recently awarded a Special Distinction at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival, Nadia Parfan is powerful young voice among Ukrainian Filmmakers. Her feature The Heat Singers takes us to the inner workings of a municipal heating company in provincial Ukraine where workers cling to their culture to rise above the frustrations of transition and decay. Filled with humor and music, The Heat Singers charms as it opens a window into life in pre-escalation Ukraine.

Co-producer Daniel Lombroso of The New Yorker will be at the Ukrainian Institute for this screening in person to talk about filmmaking and introduce a short recently produced with Nadia Parfan.
