Ukrainian Cultural Pavilion Shines at 92Y Street Fest ’18

On Sunday, September 30th, the Ukrainian Institute of America third year in a row has organized Ukrainian Pavilion at 92Y’s Street Fest.
92nd Street Y’s Annual Street Fest, a multi-stage event spanning 15 blocks along Lexington Ave (79th to 94th Streets) on New York City’s Upper East Side. 92Y’s Street Fest is a public outdoor festival with performances and activities for adults and children. It has over 50,000 people in attendance.

On September 27, 2018, at the Ukrainian Institute of America, The Honorable Ronald S. Lauder philanthropist, activist and president of the World Jewish Congress, received the Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky Award for 2018.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the Ukrainian Institute of America, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and First Lady Maryna Poroshenko laid wreaths before the recently unveiled plaque honouring Dr. Raphael Lemkin for his recognition of the genocidal nature of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Soviet Ukraine.

…The President congratulated the entire Ukrainian community, the leadership of the Ukrainian Institute of America on the 70th anniversary: “The inspiration is the fact that the cause of Volodymyr Dzus, the founder of this institute, is not only continued, but also flourished.” The Head of State also noted that he was impressed with the opinion of Americans about Volodymyr Dzus: “His life is a continuous struggle, a competition for an unattainable goal reinforced by a passionate belief in victory. His biography is a victory over the toughest living conditions due to intelligence, hard work and unchanging belief in his ideals”…

The Ukrainian Institute of America is organizing Ukrainian booth at the International Way section of the 92nd Street Y Festival. It will take place on September 30, 2018, from 12:00 – 5:00 pm. Booth #443 at 90th/91st Streets. This is the third year that Ukraine will be represented.
Booth location: 90th/91st Streets | Booth #443.
This year at our booth you will be able to taste Ukrainian food by Veselka :: Beceлкa, get acquainted with other Ukrainian-American organizations in NYC (Ukrainian Museum, Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Razom for Ukraine and more), and receive travel information for planning your trip to Ukraine provided by Lviv Tourist Information Center.
In addition, you will get a chance to speak with Crimean Tatar representatives on the current situation in Crimea.
There will be a raffle and free souvenirs for visitors.
