UKRAINIAN MASTERS – New Album on NAXOS

Music at the Institute presents

A Concert and Conversation to celebrate the new album on NAXOS – UKRAINIAN MASTERS.

Featuring

Performance of selections from the album, which includes sonatas for violin and piano by Sergei Bortkiewicz (Serhiy Bortkevych), Viktor Kosenko and Myroslav Skoryk.

Solomiya Ivakhiv, violin [UCONN/Longy]
Steven Beck, piano [UMass Amherst]

Maria Sonevytsky, Ethnomusicologist and Professor of Music, Bard College and Peter Schmelz, Musicologist and Professor of Music, Johns Hopkins University, will have discuss the contribution of Ukrainian Composers to the musical canon.

A reception will follow the program. Ukrainian Masters CD will be available for purchase.
