Vyshyvanka Run 2019

Ukrainian Running Club New York and Ukrainian Institute of America invite you to the 5th Vyshyvanka Run 2019 celebrating the 28th Independence Day of Ukraine!
Vyshyvanka Run is a charity event. We encourage you to register and make a donation in advance.
Ticket price: $5 in advance (Buy Now), $10 at the door + donation to charity. (please, donate by following the link).
Event is free for kids.
All donations will go to support Ukrainian disabled athlete Serhiy Amelko, who is in need of a new racing wheelchair. Remaining $1,740 of $3,695 needed to collect to make Serhiy’s dream come true ($720 is left from the previous charity fundraiser and $1,260 is already raised via GoFundMe and you can add your contribution.
The main goal of the event is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle while preserving and demonstrating Ukraine’s rich culture through the traditions associated with the vyshyvanka.
This event supports the restoration of the Ukrainian patriotic spirit in movement. Vyshyvanka is a Ukrainian word for the embroidered blouses and shirts that Ukrainians wear to show unity, spirit and the feeling of belonging to one Ukrainian nation.
Please wear your vyshyvanka or an embroidered cotton T-shirt. Embroidered T-shirts (vyshyvankas) will be available for purchase at the event.
Distance of the Vyshyvanka Run: 2+ miles run; 1+ mile walk.
Both adults and children are welcomed.
Gathering location: Ukrainian Institute of America, 2 East 79th Street (between 5th Ave and Madison Ave).
Run will take place in Central Park (course maps will be provided in advance).
Post run celebration sponsored by “Veselka” restaurant.
