The Ukrainian-American community will mark the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor, Stalin’s 1932-1933 Famine Genocide in Ukraine, with a solemn procession beginning in the East Village at 11:30am. Participants will proceed up 3rd Avenue to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where a requiem service sung by the Ukrainian Chorus Dumka of New York will take place beginning at 2:00pm.

Marchers will gather at 30 East 7th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues) beginning at 11:00 am. Participants should dress in embroidered shirts or else dark and muted tones. We encourage everyone to bring and carry with them a stalk of wheat. Marchers can prepare and carry flags as well as informational signs and banners, so long as they do not incorporate any wooden, metal or plastic rods, which are not allowed under our permit.
